About Sting Of The Zygons:
The TARDIS lands the Doctor and Martha in the Lake District in 1909, where a small village has been terrorised by a giant, scaly monster. The search is on for the elusive 'Beast of Westmorland', and explorers, naturalists and hunters from across the country are descending on the fells. King Edward VII himself is on his way to join the search, with a knighthood for whoever finds the Beast.
But there is a more sinister presence at work in the Lakes than a mere monster on the rampage, and the Doctor is soon embroiled in the plans of an old and terrifying enemy. And as the hunters become the hunted, a desperate battle of wits begins - with the future of the entire world at stake.

Earth Command will pay these hunters for every Dalek they kill, every eyestalk they bring back as proof.
With the Doctor's help, the bounty hunters achieve the ultimate prize: a Dalek prisoner - intact, powerless, and ready for interrogation. But with the Daleks, nothing is what it seems, and no one is safe. Before long the tables will be turned, and how will the Doctor survive when he becomes a prisoner of the Daleks?

Doctor Who: Who Is The Best Doctor? - The Guardian Reckon They Have The Answer

As Doctor Who celebrates it's 50th Anniversary this weekend The Guardian decided it was time to have a look at the numbers and see if they could work out statistically who was the best Doctor.

To do this they looked at www.imdb.com and worked out which Doctors were associated with the highest rated episodes, and which season has been rated the most highly by viewers.

Using IMDb, they compiled a list of every episode (excluding telemovies and prequels), along with the user ratings, which Doctor appeared in it, and the director.  Writers weren't included due to the way writers are credited on IMDb.

They then grouped the episodes by Doctor, season, and director to get the mean user rating of each.

The new series and old series were seperated as the old series has far fewer user ratings overall per episode (the mean is 76 reviews per episode, compared with 1,659 for the new series).
Because of the higher number of ratings, the figures for the newer series are probably more reliable.

The results of this found that whilst Tom Baker was the most popular Classic Doctor, David Tennant was the most popular new Doctor.

The most popular new era series was series 4 starring David Tennant as the Doctor and Catherine Tate as his companion Donna Noble.
The most popular classic era series was series 13 starring Tom Baker as the Doctor.

Perhaps surprisingly the most popular new era episode was Blink starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, as he did have limited screen time in this Doctor lite episode..
The most popular classic era episode is Genesis Of The Daleks: Part Three again starring Tom Baker.

You can read the full article and view all the stats on The Guardian's website here.

About The Doctors Revisited - The Fourth Doctor
"I didn't play Doctor Who, I was Doctor Who." - Tom Baker

Take an in-depth look at the fourth incarnation of the truly timeless Time Lord. Tom Baker quickly made the part his own, and with his eccentric style of dress and speech - particularly his trademark long scarf - immediately became a recognizable figure. Playing the role for seven consecutive seasons over a seven-year period, he's the longest-serving actor in the part so far.

Other contributors include Steven Moffat, Marcus Wilson, Louise Jameson, and Tom Baker himself.

Lovarzi Releases Official Doctor Who Range To Celebrate 50th Anniversary

After the success of their Fourth Doctor Scarf, Lovarzi, the UK’s leading online scarf retailer, is releasing five more unique Doctor Who products in partnership with BBC Worldwide to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary.
The range is essential for fans of the Seventh Doctor - Sylvester McCoy - but there’s something new for everyone, including a specially-designed Dalek Scarf.
The Seventh Doctor's Jumper and the incredibly-detailed Silk Scarf are ideal for cosplayers, and the 100% cotton Hanky finishes off the look perfectly.
The Seventh Doctor’s iconic appearance was designed by Ken Trew in April 1987, ready for McCoy’s debut in Time and the Rani. He battled Daleks and Cybermen, braved Paradise Towers, played chess with Fenric, and performed at the Psychic Circus for the Gods of Ragnarok until the costume made its last appearance in 1989’s Survival.

While the majority of Doctors stay in one outfit during their time onscreen, Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor swapped his brightly-coloured Scarf in his final set of stories. Lovarzi’s Season 18 Fourth Doctor Scarf in Burgundy is made from Acrylic Chenille. It was first seen in The Leisure Hive (1980) and was designed by June Hudson under instructions from producer, John Nathan-Turner. The scarf was utilised extensively until the Fourth Doctor’s swansong serial, Logopolis.
The scarf was even used in publicity shots for the 25th anniversary special, The Five Doctors (with the Fourth Doctor represented by a waxwork destined for Madame Tussauds!) before retiring to Blackpool’s Doctor Who exhibit, which operated from 1974 to1985, and 2004 to 2009.
Tom Baker actually wore scarves of various lengths, depending on what each scene entailed – one even measuring three times his own height – but Lovarzi’s is 13ft/ 3.96m in length, including tassels, and 10” (28cm) wide.
Finally, the reversible Dalek scarf is an entirely unique design, initially available in two inter-woven colour combinations: Blue and Light Grey; Grey and Charcoal. The scarf is made in Italy from finest quality wool and modal, resulting in a very fine finish.
Maninder Singh Sahota, Director of Lovarzi, says: “After the success of the Doctor Who Scarf last year, it is great to offer Doctor Who fans some other classic products. We are dedicated to providing fans with fine quality products which I’m certain they’ll love.”
Alex Carter-Jones, Business Development Manager from Forbidden Planet says: "Following on from the hugely successful Fourth Doctor Replica Scarf this range of new scarves and knitwear for the Seventh Doctor looks set to be a real fan favourite. Alongside this the addition of the burgundy Fourth Doctor scarf to the range makes for a great way to continue upon the line from last year."
Last year’s Fourth Doctor Scarf remains a huge hit, available online and in Forbidden Planet stores nationwide, as well as at the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff and various independent retailers across UK.

The Seventh Doctor Jumper, Silk Scarf and Hanky, Season 18 Fourth Doctor Scarf in Burgundy and exclusive Dalek Scarf will all be available for pre-order from Lovarzi.co.uk, Forbidden Planet, BBCShop.com and the Doctor Who Experience from September 2013.

David Tennant Tops YouGov Favourite Doctor Poll

David Tennant emerged as a clear winner in a poll of Doctor Who fans conducted this week by UK based market research agency YouGov to determine the nation's favourite Doctor.

Of an initial sample of 1974 that were approached, 68% claimed that they were not at all or not very interested in the show. The 633 who professed to be interested in Doctor Who were asked the follow up question "Which of the following is your favourite Doctor Who?" David Tennant (43%) easily topped the poll, way ahead even of perpetual fan favourite Tom Baker (16%), while the current Doctor Matt Smith came in at third with 14%. At the other end of the table, Paul McGann polled less than 1% of votes

David Tennant held his lead over all sub-groups within the polling sample. Not surprisingly, Matt Smith and Christopher Eccleston were more popular than Tom Baker and other classic Doctors in the younger age bands, and David Tennant was the most popular choice among female participants. Regionally, more voters in Wales and the Midlands preferred David to any other area.

Somewhat worryingly for the famously Labour Party-supporting David, he was the top choice of Doctor among Conservative voters.
