India says 5 of its soldiers have been killed in fights with militants in Indian-administered Kashmir. Fight began early on Tuesday morning in the Chinkipora locale in Sopore city.
Indian boundary guards in Kashmir told they came in fire from Pakistan on Wednesday, a claim deprived by Islamabad. The 2 nuclear-armed neighbors are due to convene for talks in Delhi on Thursday - the 1st formal discussions since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
The Kashmir argument has been at the centre of decades of hostility among India & Pakistan & the cause of 2 of their 3 wars while independence from British rule in 1947.
