Broadchurch Nominations In RTS West Of England Awards Tonight



The Royal Television Society West Of England Awards take place tonight at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre, and the much acclaimed drama Broadchurch has earned itself yet more nominations

Series creator Chris Chibnall has been shortlisted in the Best Writer: Drama, Factual or Entertainment category. He will compete with Lucy Catherine for Frankie and Stephen Gooder for Leopards 21st Century Cats

Also, cinematographer Matt Gray is nominated in the Best Photography category supported by Films@59. He finds himself up against the Africa camera team who captured images for BBC Natural History’s Africa: Sahara and James Bickersteth for River Monsters.

The Royal Television Society West Of England Awards in association with Evolutions Bristol are held annually to celebrate the best of the region's talent in television and digital media. Categories cover network television, on-screen talent, craft, digital media and regional television news. The ceremony, starting at 7pm, will be hosted by Carol Vorderman.

RTS Programme Awards Announced Tonight: Earthflight And Twenty Twelve Nominated




The Royal Television Society Programme Awards for 2012 will be presented at an Awards Dinner tonight at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London. The presentation, which starts at 7pm, will be hosted by comedian, actor and writer Jo Brand. Twenty Twelve and Earthflight, both narrated by David Tennant, are nominated for awards.

Twenty Twelve, the BBC Two spoof documentary series following the committee responsible for ensuring that the approach to the 2012 London Olympic games goes smoothly, is nominated for Best Scripted Comedy, alongside Sky Atlantic’s Alan Partridge: Welcome to the Places of my Life and Channel 4’s Fresh Meat. Also, programme creator John Morton is shortlisted in the Writer – Comedy section along with the teams responsible for The Thick Of It and Getting On. Finally, Jessica Hynes, who played irritating PR exec Siobhan Sharpe in the series has a nomination in the Comedy Performance section opposite Ruth Jones for Stella and Jack Whitehall for Fresh Meat.

Earthflight from John Downer Productions used innovative camera techniques to get exclusive up close footage of birds all around the world. The six part series is nominated in the Science and Natural History category.



The Royal Television Society is Britain’s leading forum for television and related media. The Awards honour excellence in key genres of television programming, from children's to drama, entertainment and soaps, to comedy performance and documentaries, covering both national and regional output. Held annually, the RTS Programme Awards aim to recognise the work of exceptional actors, presenters, writers and production teams, as well as celebrating the programmes themselves.
