A Night With A Vampire 2 Read By David Tennant Concludes Tonight



The repeat of series 2 of A Night With A Vampire series 2 concludes on BBC Radio 4 Extra this evening. David Tennant reads a contemporary vampire tale from a set of five Gothic horror stories written by 20th Century authors from the UK and USA.

Friday 20th December
A LotOf Mince Pies by Robert Swindells

Swindells is a British author known mainly for his children's books and indeed, this tale first appeared in a collection of haunted tales for the young adult. But it has a macabre and chilling undertone - set at Xmas and focussing on a group of carollers who visit the same cottage every year - and receive a special treat in return.....

David Tennant Reads A Night With A Vampire - Part 4 On BBC Radio 4 Today



David Tennant reads the fourth in a set of five contemporary vampire tales this evening in the repeated BBC Radio series A Night With A Vampire 2. The Gothic horror stories are all written by 20th Century authors from the UK and USA and will be aired on BBC Radio 4 every weekday evening this week.

Thursday 19th December
Drink My Blood by Richard Matheson

Written in 1951 by the author of I Am Legend, this is an unusually dark comic twist on the Vampire tale about a young pasty-faced school kid, Jules, whose only ambition in life is to become a vampire. But will his dreams come true?

RADIO: David Tennant Reads A Night With A Vampire This Evening



David Tennant continues to read from a series of five contemporary Gothic horror stories as A Night With A Vampire Series 2 is repeated on BBC Radio 4 Extra. The short tales, written by 20th Century authors from the UK and USA, will be aired this week every evening from Monday to Friday.

Tuesday 17th December
The Girl with the Hungry Eyes by Fritz Lieber.
This 1949 story has exerted its grip on many an imagination and has been filmed several times. It concentrates on the magnetic power of the Vampire and - in this case - the utterly captivating and inescapable lure of a Vampiress cum glamour model.

The second series of Gothic horror stories read by David Tennant, A Night With A Vampire will be repeated on BBC Radio 4 Extra starting from Monday 16th December. The five short tales will be aired on weekday evenings for the whole week at 6.45pm GMT. There is a repeat later the same night at 12.45am

A compelling story about a patriarch who sets off on a mysterious mission but fears he may come back a Vampire. If he should return to their village after 10 days - he begs his family to deny him access and plunge a stake through his heart.

An extract from an apparently serious anthropological history of the Vampire throughout Europe in the early 19 century called "The Phantom World." All the people Calmet spoke to were adamant about what they had witnessed. His account therefore appears all the more disturbing and became the basis for the flights of Vampiric fancy that took off in the Victorian age.

From next Monday, BBC Radio 4 Extra will be repeating A Night With A Vampire, a series of five short Gothic horror stories read by David Tennant.

Book At Bedtime - Revised Schedule

Since the original press release, BBC Radio 4 have slightly revised the running order of the vampire stories that David Tennant will be reading next week as part of the Book At Bedtime series. A Night With A Vampire 2 now runs as follows:

Monday 28th November

Book At Bedtime - A Night With A Vampire 2

David Tennant returns to BBC Radio 4 with another selection of chilling Vampire stories.
These five tales enter the 20th century and introduce stories with a little twist from the UK and USA.
The series will be broadcast every weeknight from Monday 28th November to Friday 2nd December from 10.45pm - 11.00pm.
