Video: Thank You From Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day have posted a video to thank everyone who donated during this year's appeal. The short video features highlights from the night, including Jessie J's head shave, Simon Cowell's wedding, and , of course, David Tennant's passionate clinch with John Bishop. The video also includes special thanks from John Bishop, Lenny Henry, Rob Brydon, Miranda Hart and Matt Smith.The Red Nose Day marathon show took place on Friday 15th March and featured special appearances from James Corden as Smithy, Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy and the return of Ricky Gervais as David Brent. The appeal raises money for projects in the UK and Africa

The RSC Raise Funds For Comic Relief With The Red Nose Bow

Actors from the Royal Shakespeare Company's productions of Hamlet and Boris Godunov support Comic Relief to raise money for good causes.

The casts of both shows responded to a call from fellow actors David Tennant and Mike Fenton Stevens to collect money for Comic Relief in buckets after the show.

They asked theatre companies across the country to collect for Comic Relief after their performances.

The Red Nose Bow took place on Red Nose Day (15 March) in the evening after both shows, as audiences made donations as they left.

The RSC raised a total £1421.39 for Comic Relief to go towards good causes in the UK and in Africa.

Comic Relief: Funny For Money Attracts Over 12 Million Viewers

Friday's Red Nose Day telethon was watched by an amazing 12.2 million viewers at its peak, with an average of 9.87 million viewers (40.6% of the audience share) between 7 - 10.30pm. The peak audience came during Peter Kay's Sit Down challenge which aired between 8.15 and 8.30pm.

4.48 million viewers (26%) followed the show across to BBC Two at 10.30pm where they saw David Tennant ambush comedian John Bishop with a surprise kiss. The late slot, including David Tennant's studio appeal to viewers to donate to prevent the needless deaths of thousands of African children each year from preventable diseases such as malaria, brought in an audience of 2.4m (35%) until the close at 2am. 

Overall the BBC pulled in the biggest share of primetime viewers on Friday, with 38.6%. ITV came a distant second with 17.7%.
