JEDDAH: A Saudi and a Syrian were executed on Tuesday after they were convicted of smuggling drugs into the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Muhammad Abdul Malik Ajaj, the Syrian, was beheaded in the northern Saudi city of Al-Jouf on Tuesday after he was convicted of smuggling 207,000 narcotic pills into the Kingdom, the Interior Ministry said.
Hamad bin Salim Al-Yami, the Saudi, was executed in the southern border city of Jazan after he was convicted of smuggling hashish into the Kingdom.
The ministry reiterated its determination to combat drugs by imposing capital punishment on smugglers and traffickers. It highlighted the danger posed by drugs to individuals and society.
