The Taliban shot dead an alleged murderer before a large gathering in the restive North Waziristan tribal region, the second such public execution this month by militants in northwest Pakistan.
Waheed Khan, a 28-year-old resident of North Waziristan, was shot and killed before a crowd of 200 people in Datta Khel area yesterday for allegedly killing a tribesman on June 12.
"They (Taliban) fired 3 bullets in his chest," an eyewitness was quoted as saying by the Daily Times newspaper.
"The people were stunned by the Taliban-style justice," the witness said.
On June 8, a tribesman accused of killing 2 brothers was executed on the orders of the Taliban in Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan Agency.
The Taliban have summarily executed dozens of people in the restive tribal belt on various charges, including spying for US forces in Afghanistan.
