Suspected pirates fight with U.S. Navy

The USS Nicholas statement taking fire from an alleged pirate skiff shortly after midnight local time west of the Seychelles, the statement said. The Nicholas speedily returned fire & began pursuing the skiff, which was finally disabled. A boarding team arrested 3 people.

The team revealed bullets & some cans of fuel aboard the skiff, which was later ruined by the Nicholas. Additional 2 suspected pirates were captured on a take away "mother ship".

Last week, 1 pirate was killed & several others were keeping in custody after a security team thwarted an attack against a Panamanian-flagged cargo ship, the MV Almezaan.
