Saudi man beheaded for murder

A Saudi man was beheaded on Tuesday for the murder of his wife and son, the interior ministry announced.

Sultan Bin Ali Bin Abdullah al-Qahtani was put to death by the sword in the city of Abha after being convicted of shooting the 2, said a statement carried by the official SPA news service.

It was the kingdom's 4th announced execution of 2010, after 67 people were put to death last year and 102 in 2008.

Under the strict version of Islamic sharia law enforced in Saudi Arabia, the death penalty can be imposed for rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking.
